Rhodes
Rhodes Town was expanded by the Knights Hospitaller after the Order was expelled from Jerusalem. They relocated their base to Rhodes and established a hospital and various fortifications here. The Old Town is rather touristic and very crowded. We head straight for the Palace of the Grand Master. This palace—comparable to the one in Malta, where the knights moved in 1306 before being driven out by the Ottomans in 1522—is located just beyond the Amboise Gate.

Filled up and warmed, we continue to the Hermanness Nature Reserve, at
the northernmost tip of Unst. For the ultimate "end-of-the-world"
feeling.
From the visitor centre (unstaffed, but there's a drinks and snacks
vendor who also provides practical information) it's an hour's walk to
the cliffs, where Atlantic Puffins and especially Northern Gannets nest.
Valencia
We wandelen terug naar de kathedraal. De van oorsprong romaanse kerk, gebouwd in de 13e eeuw op de fundering van een moskee is van binnen sterk gotisch. BelangrijksteHeilige Graal bezienswaardigheid is de heilige kapel met de heilige graal. Hiervan zou Jezus gedronken hebben tijdens het Laatste Avondmaal. De graal is in een aparte donkere kapel tentoongesteld en vervat in een soort monstrans. Aansluitend kun je door het museum, waar het processiealtaar staat. Ook buiten is de kerk mooi versierd met mooie waterspuwers en beelden.
